As mentioned in our March 19 blog, STAR ATTRACTION — Christopher Plummer, our man is pictured below in a younger incarnation.
He’s resembles somebody famous, we wrote, but we are coming up blank as to who. We asked, can you help us?
Well, we heard from a reader, R. O’Leary, who gave us an opinion in two words:
“Laurence Harvey.”
Well, below is a photo of Harvey. What do you think?
Couldn’t put my finger on it either, but now that R. O’Leary has put forth Laurence Harvey, I’ll buy that!
BTW, fun Plummer anecdote. During the Broadway run of “Barrymore,” as Plummer was exiting the theater accompanied by his friend, British comedian Peter Cook, he was accosted by an overly enthusiastic fan wielding a dozen Playbills from Plummer’s past shows.
The fan asked Plummer to sign them all, to which Plummer’s response was a curt “No.” As he began to walk away, the fan followed and asked if Plummer would be willing to sign just the one from that evening’s performance.
Once again, Plummer said “No” and continued walking.
In desperation, the fan got in front of Plummer, saying, ” Oh PLEASE, Mr. Plummer, it would mean so much to me,” while pummeling Plummer’s chest gently with the Playbills, causing Cook to observe, “Well this is a first — the fan hitting the sh*t.”
