We end the series with Cary Grant and Rita Hayworth.
Easier this week were Fatty Arbuckle, Al Jolson, and Johnny Weissmuller; Joan Crawford, Clark Gable, Jean Harlow; Ginger Rogers, Gary Cooper with William Powell, and Stepin Fetchit; and yesterday featured Tyrone Power, Sonje Henie and Errol Flynn.
I’ve always heard that Cary Grant was thrifty/tight/cheap, so it’s kind of fun to see him on the fender of “the doctor’s car”–a gleaming Buick. The Lincoln Continental looks like it was made for Rita Hayworth–sleek and elegant.
Nice series all week. Thanks…
Not an expert, but that looks like a ’41 or ’42 Buick that Cary is sitting on. Probably taken when the car was new, as there is no hint of a ration sticker on the windshield…
I think Cary and Myrna had a new Buick convertible some years later in Mr. Blandings Builds His Dream House.
