On screen famous couples are always a bit better looking, a bit more romantic, and have a bit more drama in their lives than their real life counterparts.
But when MGM immortalized Marie and Pierre Curie in the film Madame Curie they didn’t have to stretch the truth terribly much. Perhaps the real life Pierre and Marie weren’t quite as romantic as Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon portrayed them. Although they did have two children.
The film was a huge commercial success and garnered seven Oscar nominations including one for best picture and one for each of its stars.
