Probably not. Have you ever seen one of his films? Probably so.

For although as a child actor he only made a few movies, he was fortunate enough to be in a couple of really good ones.

Ever see Gone With the Wind? He portrayed Beau Wilkes, the son of Ashley Wilkes and Melanie. That’s him below with Leslie Howard.

Everyone knows that Olivia DeHavilland is the only star left from that classic movie. (She turned 101 this month.) But yes, Mickey is the only other actor from that film (who got billing) who is still with us. He’s 84.

The picture at the top of today’s blog is Mickey portraying the young Kirk Douglas character in The Strange Love of Martha Ivers.

Some of his other films include Juarez, A Tree Grows in Brooklyn, and Red River. And as a young adult he had a small part (the sailor who gives directions to Blanche DuBois) in A Streetcar Named Desire.

That gives him the distinction of being the only actor to work with Vivien Leigh in both her Oscar winning films — GWTW as Scarlett O’Hara and as Blanche in Streetcar.

Not bad for someone you never heard of.
