Last month in one of our quizzes we asked about male screen teams through the decades. We were thinking of Laurel and Hardy, Abbott and Costello and the like, but faithful reader, Patricia Nolan-Hall (Caftan Woman — note our blogroll), suggested James Cagney and Pat O’Brien.

It got us to thinking. Yes, through the decades there have been some screen buddies that made a big hit with film audiences.

Usually the guys were simultaneously friends and adversaries. In the thirties Cagney and O’Brien, in the forties Hope and Crosby (with the addition of the girl, Lamour). Later there was Rock Hudson and Tony Randall.

And of course Paul Newman and Robert Redford.

Any teams you particularly remember, dear readers?
