This may be too late to do any good, but could the film the woman was remembering seeing as a child be "The Uninvited" with Ruth Hussey and Ray Milland? (The plot she mentioned was about a girl who talked to a ghost and the house later burned down and fell into the sea). I just discovered your website through the blog roll at "Thrilling Days of Yesteryear." It's marvelous! It's great fun to read--but plays heck with my productivity. Thank you both for the love and effort you put into your work

Al
You are right. But Mike Sheridan answered the question first. Try again in the next "Hearst" quiz.

Joe, your "Gable & Lombard & Powell & Harlow" book is currently up for sale at eBay, so I took the opportunity to promote both the book and this site in my most recent entry: http://carole-and-co.livejournal.com/478544.html. Continued success.

THE CORPORATION, co-created by Mark Achbar and based on the best selling book by Joel Bakan, an emient law professor and legal theorist , is a most vital film for our time. The Corporation" The Pathological Pursuit of Power is a documenatary film featuring some of the top sociopolitical analysts and activists of our time, from Howard Zinn to Noam Chomsky, Michael Moore to Vandana Shiva. The film offers brilliant commentary on our world situation today, explaining in dramatic detail and on-the-spot dramatic and real footage, the horrible effects of the global corporate state that now supersedes the nation state in setting the economic agenda for the entire globe. It demonstrates the far reaching power of multinational corporations to rule the destinies of all of us Earthlings while keeping everyone a slave of the profit motive above all humane concerns. The film is available on Netflex and on DVD as well as on the internet through file sharing and has been seen my millions around the globe. It's a must-see for anyone who wishes to understand the world order of our current planetary society.
