There are four Oscar Winning Stars over 90 years old.
Care to guess? Hello, everybody. Joe Morella and Frank Segers, your classic movie guys, back again to announce that if you’re a student of the Oscars you’ll know who these geriatric winner are.
The first woman to win two Academy Awards, and to do it in two consecutive years was Luise Ranier, the German-Austrian star of the 1930s. Miss Ranier is still with us.
She’s 101, lives in London, and is still very active. Supposedly she saw last year’s “The King’s Speech,” and thought the film and its Oscar winner, Colin Firth, very satisfactory.
Another two time winner, Olivia de Havilland, is 95. Olivia appeared as a presenter on the Oscar TV broadcast a few years ago.
The de Havilland women must come from hardy stock. Joan de Havilland, better known as Joan Fontaine, is alive and well at 94. Although she won only one Oscar she did so before her “big” sister.
And representing the male side of the acting profession we have 94-year-old Ernest Borgnine, who’s still looks great, loves to laugh and is available for work.
