Marsha Hunt is probably more famous today because of being blacklisted than because of her screen roles. She was, however, a very good actress and an asset in all her films.
Hello, everybody. Joe Morella and Frank Segers here again to discuss one of the stars of Hollywood’s Golden Era who is still with us, Marsha Hunt.
Some readers have remembered Hunt with affection. Jessica wrote in to say: Marsha Hunt is one of my absolute favorites and terribly underrated. I can’t wait for the documentary. Her “The Way We Wore” book is currently sitting on my coffee table.
She seems like a wonderful and sweet woman. Two of my favorite films of her’s are “A Letter For Evie” and “Affairs of Martha”

Thanks for letting us know about the Documentary that’s coming up by Roger Memos. I do hope that we’ll get a lot of conversations with Marsha with some behind the scenes info on her career, time working in Hollywood.
Besides the aforementioned films Hunt gave perfect performances in two of Joe’s favorite MGM entries from the early 40s, Pride and Prejudice and Blossoms in the Dust.
In the latter she starred with Greer Garson and Walter Pidgeon in a real life tale about a courageous Texas woman who was instrumental in having the word “Illegitimate” taken off children’s birth certificates. While this seems trivial today, rest assured it was a big deal in the last century.
